Hi there!

Couple of days ago two very important things happened in Bulgaria. The first one was the Ovi Apps Wizzard Workshop that was presented before the bulgarian bloggers audience. The second, actually, was the first official presentation in Bulgaria of the newest mobile device and a flagman of the Nokia Corporation - Nokia N8.

While the Ovi App Wizzard Workshop was the one that presented the newest tech services by Nokia of how to create an application in simply 10 minutes time, I was the lucky one that was chosen by Nokia to present their newest device - Nokia N8.

To make the long story short, I will say this - I am a Nokia user  and a fan of the company for almost 10 years already. I do own some of the jewels that Nokia has invented and I am still using: Nokia 7110, Nokia 6310, Nokia E65 and so on, and so on… image And this is not just because I like the brand, but because Nokiaappeared to be the one that corresponds my needs of having one device that combines in one solidity, slyle, good strength and reliable connection, good music player and at last but not the least - a good camera to share moments with the people I love.

In this article I will show you the tests that I made to got almost to the 100% percent oppinion of what and how exactly you can expect from Nokia N8… So let us start image and have fun!

First of all I will give you a brief representation of some of the technical info that I am sure some of you, the most curious about newest Nokia devices, are already very familiar with :

- Integrated GPS with A-GPS functionality (Ovi Maps)

Now lets see the real tests!! image

You’ll get what you see

The Nokia N8 itself has a very big body shell, wich I think, is going to be the first “male” choice rather than “female” one. It feels pretty good in hand, the anodized aluminium body shell has a gread slyling finish. I do have the dark grey model wich is pretty fashionable I think. The edges are very smooth and rounded and it feels very good when in pocket.

Inside the shell

The UI is something that I am very familiar with. The Symbian^3 is pretty easy adjustable to fit your needs, user friendly, and has great readability. The apps are responding very fast. Multitasking is a blast and helps to switch between different programs very quickly and easy.  The navigation when in applications, music, video or photo albums is very smooth and user friendly. When online, and viewing rich internet applications such as video, webesites, animation, music… Nokia N8 is the choice to be done.

New phone? No problems!

One of the major things I love in Nokia is that they make it so easy to merge information when you decide to have a new phone or just to replace the old one you have already. All you have to to is to back up the information from your old Nokia and to save it to the new one. It is very easy and is matter of few minutes. For me this is the TOP’s 5 most wanted things I want to have when talking about phones.

My Nokia N8 was set up in about 5 minutes when restoring the information from my old E65 to N8. Now I do have all my contacts, schedules, notes, important dates, all phone settings, music and photos in a glimpse… Isn’t it great !?!

More time means more fun!

According to my test, the battery of a new piece of Nokia N8 is standing as long as 15hrs of hard Wi-Fi browsing, playing music, installing apps from Ovi Store, watching movies… The full charge time needed is around 2hrs. I downloaded tones of my favorute music (around 10GB) and it was made trough the super fast micro usb that is implanted in the Nokia N8 image The memory is expandable with MicroSD memory card up to 32GB, so… as I said before… More time means more fun!

Playing games in Nokia N8 is a huge advance in technology… The brilliant graphic accelerator is performing faster like you’re playing on your own desktop PC and is giving to the user an exciting gaming experience. I have just downloaded the NFS and Angry Birds games free from Ovi Store and the feeling of playing games on Nokia N8 is awesome!

Love and music will save the world.

I do love the music. It is a big part of my life and now I can enjoy it more. Listeing to music on Nokia N8 is good, very good indeed. The presets of the graphic equalizer give you the abillity to select different equalizer stile dependind on the genre  music you listen to. You can create your own playlists too.

Nokia - Connecting People

When combined with photography you can go even further. This is the time I am on fire! image

Being a fashion and advertising photographer for almost 14 years already, makes me very hard to please person when talking about taking pictures…

First time I had a phone with camera was about 4 years ago. Back then, to talk about having creativity involved in mobile phones and photography was impossible. Now times have changed!

Taking pictures with Nokia N8 12 MP camera is so simple, so easy and fast that it sounded surreal in the first time. When I started to make the photography tests I was astonished by the images I took. The details, sharpness and colors were very close to the real scenes. Even in muted light, Nokia N8 was capable to recognize human faces and to take brilliant pictures with or without flash.

The next thing that I liked a lot is that you can have your own User Defined Scene Mode settings according to the way you love to take pictures. It is very detailed and includes things like flash, white balance, colour tone, light sensitivity, sharpness and contrast.

A little PRO photo tip from me image that you can easily to try is to use the the green focus square to fix the “focusing point” and as still holding the button, to recompose the composition. This trick is shown in the photo gallery below.

The autofocus is almost 100% proof even in backlight composition. As some of you know, to have focus on object when the sun, for example, is behind it is very difficult task even for nowadays professional cameras. But N8 did it and surprised me very well! As you will see in my gallery below the images are very, very good.

One more thing I liked too. When first browsing for information about Nokia N8 I realised how many compare test I found to semi professional DSLR cameras… In this case there is just one word to say: A compliment, great one indeed. The biggest compliment Nokia can get. To compare a mobile’s phone camera to DSLR is a great thing, maybe the greatest ever. And Nokia N8 gets it!
